Great effort Steve and my kind of Saturday night. You didn't fancy the three legged challenge then? Guess that's the nightime record bagged? Jayne's gonna be making an attempt this Friday I believe. Ian also showed me a bit of a route on Wednesday night so i'm a little closer to an attempt too

Hi Steve, Good effort on your night run! I feel unloved that you didn't contact me about my new Three Peak Challenge! Fortunately for me I know only one other person that would be up for the Full Moon, Three Legged, Naked Attempt and last Thursday we had a full moon so the challenge was on Did we do it? Did we get arrested? Did we lube up enough? There's only one way to find out- wallman1.blogspot.com/ (Sorry if this is getting tedious) Dave D aka Wallman Delamere Spartan

Well done to Steph, that's a brilliant time! Looks like a busy weekend for the Three Peaks again what with Steve's great run too.
Chris Marshall is pretty fast running backwards, wonder if he'd be up for a full backwards attempt?

Stop the Press!
New female record.
Jayne Joy from Helsby attempted the Three Peaks finishing with the fantastic time of 2.29.28, started at Helsby then to Frodsham and Eddisbury. Full distance roughly 16 miles and with a few stops for cattle and a few wrong turns.
Well done to Jayne

Chris Marshall is pretty fast running backwards, wonder if he'd be up for a full backwards attempt? I do fancy a go at the night time round and I would like to regain the record before it is put out of reach, but I don't think a backwards one is for me. Well done Jayne

Well done Jayne, good effort, shame about the company Only kidding! I went out 2 weeks ago to recci/run a circular route (no returning on the same paths or crossing paths) but I turned my ankle in the first mile Taking it very easy and building it back up slowly now. Dave

It should be placed on the public record that Adair paced Jayne on this the day before the Brecons Ultra. Clearly his idea of a rest day is some way off that of the rest of us. And for a recovery run he did the Conwy Half the day after. Stop now please, you're showing the rest of us up ;-)

I think I'm just about ready for a crack at the course record.
Just mapped a circular route out of curiosty and it's actually shorter than my old route. But will need a recon to make sure it's runnable.
All things being well I'll give it a go some time during the week following the Tattenhall Borders League race.

Had my first go at this yesterday, Helsby>Delamere>Frodsham>Helsby. Did 2h 2m exactly. My route through the forest on some of the smaller paths was really waterlogged after this week so I couldn't run, then I don't think I took the best routes up or down the hill in Delamere as I didn't really know it, so I think I could get close to 1h 50m with a bit more planning and a good run. My route down the hill in Delamere looked like a shortcut, but then became a MTB route which was a river of mud! Took 5 minutes from the stone circle to the visitor centre!
Really enjoyed, a tough but nice run.

Good effort Ed,
I did a recon run for my circular route mid week. From the stone circle out is good, but I'm still not entirely happy with my route going in.
Cancelled next weeks attempt as I crashed out of the xc in Stadt Moers Park yesterday and now I hobbling round with a swollen hand and knee. Probably do it between christmas and new year now. (christmas day?)

Good work Ed, it's taking on a life of its own this thing. The whole thing's endlessly fascinating - I didn't go anywhere near the visitor centre (well not knowingly, it was dark). Going to have to do some work to get as quick as you younger chaps!
Didn't realise you'd had a bad time at the xc Chris - you looked like you were going well when I saw you early on. Heal quick!

I think it's only when you get into the detail of the route planning that you realise just how many different routes you can take. I initially thought it wouldn't take long for the best route to become apparent, but it's definitely not the case.
I've replanned my route and have it at 14.2miles with 1250' of ascent/descent, and reckon it's a good one, so just waiting for attempt 2 now. Saturday's looking a bit windy at the moment though - 21 mph in the direction of the forest could lead to a record time from Helsby to Pale Heights, but a tough time on the way back to Frodsham!
