Excellent article, interestingly, I was recently 'scoffed at' (pun!!) for consuming a chewy bar immediately post run by a nameless club member!!! but as the article clearly shows, glycogen syhnthesis is most effective within the first 2 hours after training.
What the article omits though is the golden, golden window which occurs during the first 15 minutes after exercise. In this short time period, the body's assimilation of glycogen is much faster than at any other time (including the subsequent 2 hours) and hence to maximise recovery rates, consuming a high glycaemic index snack/drink within the first 15 minutes will accelerate the recovery process better than at any other time. The 15 minutes - 2 hours carbs & protein advice in the article should still be followed. Happy eating!!!
